Third Coast Paddling offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals at a few different locations. They also have shops that sell clothes and gear.
The Paw Paw River rental location is perfect for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Three bodies of water meet in this area: the Paw Paw River, St. Joseph River and Lake Michigan. There’s very little current on this section of the slow-moving Paw Paw River, making it ideal for beginner paddling. Paddle under bridges, behind homes and golf courses and look for birds and wildlife along the way.
Paddleboards and single or double kayaks are available for hourly rentals.
Hours
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
Age or Height Restrictions
Kids age 14 and younger can paddle alone if accompanied by a parent or guardian in another kayak or board. There is no age minimum for children sharing a double kayak with a parent or guardian. However, there are a limited number of kids’ life jackets, which fit most kids as young as 3.
Things to Know/Bring
Life jackets are provided, with a limited number of kids’ life jackets. The rental equipment is located next to the river, not in a building. There is a portable toilet located onsite, but there aren’t any changing areas. Dress to get a little wet and expect that any electronics could also get wet and maybe plan to leave them in the car.
