Take a breather in these beautiful botanical gardens, which encompass 36 public gardens and the Springfield Botanical Center, where families can learn about plant life, get up close and personal in the “teaching gardens,” and enjoy various workshops and exhibits. Admission is free to both the center and the gardens. The 36 gardens are arranged based on what types of plants they are home to–like the Azalea Garden, Rose Garden, and Wildflower Garden–so you can see them all or pick a few favorites. Just don’t miss the Butterfly Garden, which is full of plants designed to attract all types of Missouri’s native butterflies.
