The longtime Duluth ski resort added the Timber Twister, a self-controlled alpine coaster, last summer. A Timber Flyer zipline is scheduled to open in 2011. This variation of a traditional zipline has bench-like seats rather than a harness. It allows a parent and child to ride together. Mini-golf also is in the works.
In the winter, Spirit Mountain has 22 ski runs, 700-foot vertical drops, one super pipe and the largest terrain park in the Midwest. A tubing park may open in late 2011.
