Literally a very large outdoor staircase, the Spanish Steps serve as a gathering point for visitors who grab a spot on the white marble staircase and watch the sun set over Rome. Musicians sometimes perform, if not caught by the lingering police. The 135 steps were built in the early 1700’s and lead to the Trinita dei Monti church. A perfect excuse to sit down and relax after a day wandering the streets of Rome while the kids play, a sunset is definitely worth the trip. Concessions are available, and a restaurant with a patio is available at the top of the steps with even better sunset views for dinner.
