The Southampton Historical Museum is actually three separate museums located throughout Southampton, including the Rogers Mansion, Pelletreau Shop, and the Thomas Halsey Homestead.
Rogers Mansion
Rogers Mansion is located at 17 Meeting House Lane and is open year-round. This property is located off of Main Street in Southampton, which also makes it easy to get to with kids. The property has 12 buildings in total. After exploring the main mansion, walk around the grounds to see the outhouses, one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, general store, a colonial barn and more. Rogers Mansion is open May to December, Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pelletreau Shop
Pelletreau Shop is located at 80 Main Street and dates back to the 1600s. Enjoy a tour of the building, which was once home to jewelry, shoe buckles, tankards, silverware and more. You can tour the building and watch a jewelry-making demonstration. Pelletreau Shop is open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thomas Halsey Homestead
Thomas Halsey Homestead is located at 249 S. Main Street and was built in 1660. The mansion was built by Thomas Halsey and it is believed to be the oldest English-style house in New York State. Enjoy a tour of the home and garden with the kids. It is open seasonally. Call 631-283-2494 in advance for hours.
Admission for each museum is $7 for adults and free for children 17 and under. Members also get in for free.
