Perfect for a sunny winter day, snowshoeing though the forest service land and wilderness of Taos Ski Valley offers 1,300 acres, 2,800 feet of vertical gain and nearly 25 miles of old roads and trails. Mother Nature will delight all who embark on an adventure with a large variety of trees that house woodland creatures year-round and possibilities to view herds of bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain Elk and mule deer. Call ahead to arrange a guided snowshoe nature walk hosted by the Field Institute of Taos and Northside for their $25 per person walk from 12:45 to 3 pm. Hot chocolate is served and along with a natural history tour, you will be rewarded with a new found appreciation of the Sangre de Christos area.
