One of the hokiest of the roadside attractions along Highway 41 devoted to gators, swamp buggies, and airboats, this one centers around the legend of the Skunk Ape, the Everglades’ answer to Bigfoot. David Shealy, owner of this establishment, has appeared on national television a number time to perpetuate the legend, which stems from early native people.

At the headquarters, you will learn about the smelly apparition, watch a video, and shop for skunk ape field supplies and souvenirs. The attraction also keeps a number of live animals on the grounds and inside — ostriches, alligators, turtles, exotic birds, pythons, and other snakes. Eco-tours are also available.
