Covering 5 acres, Shelter Gardens welcomes visitors to explore and experience the beauty of more than 300 varieties of trees and shrubs accompanied by 15,000 annuals and perennials. Highlights in the gardens include a waterfall, pool and stream; the Newcomer School, a replica of a 19th-century, one-room schoolhouse; the Vietnam Memorial; and the Rose Garden and Sundial. Families are free to roam the formal paths through the gardens, or enjoy a picnic lunch on the lawns or at the gazebo. This is a great spot for kids when they need some space or if they need a bit of quiet to recharge.
