A small piece of maritime history quietly awaits your family in Saugatuck in the form of the last hand-cranked chain ferry left in the country. Two-hundred cranks and five minutes later, you and your kids (and bikes if you’ve brought or rented them) will be on the other side of the Kalamazoo River thanks to this Victorian ferry, just yards from the steps of Mr. Baldhead and 1 mile from Oval Beach.
Admission is just $1 for the ferry, which operates Memorial Day to Labor Day.
