The San Diego History Center, located in Balboa Park, envelopes the city’s history in more than 45 million documents and 2.5 million images that tell stories from each neighborhood. Highlights include a giant floor map of the city and period clothing that kids can actually put on for photos.
The museum regularly hosts traveling exhibits and events, too. These have included everything from Comic Con: The Early Years to ROMP! Children Discover Balboa Park.
The San Diego History Center is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for kids (ages 6 to 17), and free for those under 6. On Tuesdays, admission is free for residents of San Diego.
