Roman Forum and Palatine

Piazza Santa Maria Nova 53, Rome, 00186

Stretching from across the street from the Coliseum to the Roman art museum are the historical Forum and Palatine Hill. Formerly the heart of ancient Rome, the structures still standing illustrate how a Roman piazza with shops, temples and forums for politicians may have played out among the people of Rome. Younger children will not appreciate the ruins surrounding them, but they can run freely and safely among them as older children and adults take in the history, which includes serving as the home of the imperial family at Palatine Hill, and stretching back to the golden age of Rome in the Forum. Here, you’ll see the remains of Caesar’s temple, as well as the remains of Constantine and Maxentious’ temples.
