Hikers and bikers will love the numerous trails that traverse Rock Bridge Memorial State Park. The highlight of the park is the natural rock bridge that formed after a portion of the cave roof collapsed. Today, visitors can hike the Devil’s Icebox Trail from the trailhead at the Devil’s Icebox parking area off of Highway 163. The trail is a half-mile loop that takes hikers by the rock bridge, the double sinkhole entrance to Devil’s Icebox and Connor’s Cave. Trail conditions include natural surfaces, boardwalks, numerous stairs and several viewing platforms. If taken easy, the hike is not too strenuous, even for small children; please note this is not a stroller-accessible trail.
Horseback riding is also permitted in the Gans Creek Wild Area of the park from June 1 through Oct. 31. Riders should call the hotline at 573-442-2249 before heading out to ensure the trails are open.
