Over a mile and a half long, Redondo State Beach is a narrow strip of sand that can get busy in summer but is usually less crowded than Santa Monica and other more famous beach towns. Kids might be able to see sea life such as sting rays and star fish.
While it’s possible to grab metered street parking, the Pier parking structure (100 West Torrance Boulevard) and Plaza parking structure (180 North Harbor Drive) both offer convenient parking. During the summer (May 1 to September 30), parking is $2 an hour and 50 cents for the first house on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and $1.50 an hour October 1 to April 30. Free entry.
