More than just an expansive sand beach (which gets sun all day long, since it faces north), Race Point also doubles as an excellent perch for nature viewing and sightseeing– its deep inshore waters are frequented by sailboats, whales, and other seagoing creatures. Be aware that the undertow can be too intense for younger children, but the dunes and waterline offer plenty of room for sandcastle building contests.
