Step into a piece of history at President Lincoln’s Cottage, dubbed “a home for brave ideas.” The 16th president spent about a quarter of his administration term at this summer retreat, a large part of which was spent making military decisions and developing the Emancipation Proclamation. Knowledgeable tour guides will bring to life stories about Lincoln’s personal and political life, supplementing them with audio and video clips. The tours last about an hour, so most children won’t have time to get too antsy–and if they’re history buffs, they might not even want to leave that soon!
