For those looking to get outside and experience nature a bit, Pioneers Park is a great option. Located on the southwest side of Lincoln, the park is more than 900-acres in size, with a lot to see and do. Here you’ll find hiking trails, plenty of open space, playgrounds for the kids, the Pinewood Bowl (home to concerts and events in the spring and summer months) and the Nature Center.
Pioneers Park and Nature Center is a great place for families interested in the local wildlife. The center is located in the southwest corner of the park and is home to an environmental education center and a wildlife sanctuary. Visitors will love seeing the bison, elk and white-tail deer herds. Kids will also enjoy the natural play area!
Pioneers Park is open year-round and the Nature Center is open 362 days a year. Admission is free, but donations are recommended.
