History buffs will love exploring these ruins, learning their story, and seeing the primitive pictographs adorning the rock faces. Make an appointment ahead of time for a guide to take you along the trail (there’s no charge but reservations are required), and be prepared for a rough, unpaved road to reach the site off the highway. A walking stick is provided, but you’ll need good balance to climb some of the steps to the cliff dwelling section (the pictograph grotto is easier to access). It’s an informative, interesting experience overall.
