My Big Backyard, an incredibly creative 2.5-acre special section of the Memphis Botanical Garden, is a mish-mash of flower garden, children’s museum, playground, whimsical art gallery, and outdoor classroom. Its 16 different themed areas include Wormville (where kids can climb through underground tunnels to get a worms’-eye-view of things), Treetop Adventure (where ramps take kids to the treetop level for a higher perspective), and Raindrop Stop (where it rains for two minutes every half hour, complete with thunder, from May through September). My Little Garden even has a mud-pie making station! Seedling Circle is just for toddlers, while older kids can build their own forts or put on an outdoor themed puppet show at Nature Play. An adorable collection of imaginative and colorful playhouses beg exploration at Playhouse Lane.
