Memorial Stadium (on the campus of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln) is home to the university’s football team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The team may very well be Lincoln’s biggest claim to fame. On home football Saturdays in the fall, Memorial Stadium (and the surrounding areas) are known as the “Sea of Red.” With a seating capacity at roughly 90,000, the stadium actually becomes the third largest “city” in Nebraska on home game days. For college football fans, attending a game here in the fall is a great experience! Unlike some college football venues, the atmosphere here is very family-friendly. The University of Nebraska – Lincoln is a dry campus (no alcohol allowed) and many of the fans coming for the games are young families. You’ll see lots of fans of all ages.
If you’re visiting Lincoln other times of the year (or don’t have tickets for a game), you can take a tour of the stadium. Flexible self-guided tours can be taken seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (when no teams are playing or practicing). Guided tours are also available by appointment.
