From mid-March well into April, this popular Kyoto park near the Gion district is the place to take in the beautiful spectacle of blossoming cherry trees. The park’s centerpiece tree, a tall and perfect specimen, is even lit up after dark. You can buy drinks and snacks in the park from vendors.

Even outside of cherry blossom season, it’s worth visiting to see turtles and carp swimming in the ponds and basking in the green surrounds.
