Phenomenal spot to spend about an hour feasting your eyes on the largest display of Mardi Gras costumes in the world. You’ll see several rooms packed with gorgeous costumes, sequins and feathers, and learn about the history of King Cakes. You can try on costumes for photos and even climb a float. Tip for finding this tucked away jewel: Trek to the back of the former school now called the Central School Arts and Humanities Center and take the stairs or elevator to the second level. Worth dragging the kids; they’ll dig the animatronic mannequins.
