You don’t have to head out of Baton Rouge and down to River Road to see some of Louisiana’s historic plantations. Located just minutes from downtown, Magnolia Mound is a circa 1791 plantation featuring the vernacular architecture influenced by the French and West Indies settlers. Guided tours take visitors through the home and feature stops at the kitchen and other buildings (don’t miss the privy) on the property.
