Not for the out of shape or rubbery of legs, historic Little Traverse Wheelway is a huge hit with biking fans for its paved trail and phenomenal views of Lake Michigan. The 26-mile Wheelway rolls from Charlevoix to the northern outskirts of Petoskey and eventually to Harbor Springs. There are many chances to stop for a picnic lunch at a park or a snack at a restaurant. Stop and fish at Lime Kiln Pond in Petoskey’s Bayfront Park (stocked with pan fish, it’s a nifty place for kids learning to reel ‘em in), or take on a piece of the trail in in-line skates or cross country skis.
