Long considered the family-friendliest lake on Minneapolis’ Chain of Lakes, Lake Harriet hums with activity. You can swim at two beaches (north and southeast sides), catch a free concert at the historic band shell, grab a meal at locally sourced Bread & Pickle and smell your way through the Rose Garden. Walking and biking paths (about 3 miles roundtrip) ring the lake and parallel its historic mansions. Bikes, kayaks, paddleboats and standup paddleboards can be rented through Wheel Fun Rentals. You can also hop aboard the historic trolley that runs between Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun.
