About 20 minutes from Mammoth Lakes, June Lake is a spectacular spot for swimming and relaxing in the late summer, when water temps might be about bearable. The lake has two small stretches of sandy beach. The nearby town offers a couple of decent dining options and some accommodations, and the 14-mile June Lake Loop, which takes in neighboring Gull Lake, Silver Lake and Grant Lake, is a beautiful drive.
