The tented white roof of this museum on the Moorhead side of the Red River was built around the Hjemkomst, a replicated 1880 Viking ship that was built by a Minnesota man and sailed from the United States to Norway in 1982. Museum grounds also include a replica of a wooden Norwegian stave church with intricate shingling and dragons carved along the rooflines. Exhibits, the gift shop and an annual festival showcase the area’s Nordic heritage.
