Stop in at the Old School House, a registered historic landmark not far from the bakery. Built in 1921 and only closed in 1988, this quaint one-room schoolhouse is open to the public and takes you back in time. Our son was impressed with the one-room setup complete with desks and artwork, wood stove, and world maps on the wall. Even the new one-room school house just a tick down the road will appear old-fashioned compared to modern school buildings. The new school house isn’t open to the public, but kids might enjoy wandering around it and reflecting on off-the-grid life in this valley.
