Once a small, independent amusement park and zoo, first created in the 1960s, Happy Hollow Park underwent a two-year, $72-million renovation and reopened a new play place and zoo for kids in 2010. Spread across 16 acres, the zoo added four acres and new animal exhibits. The zoo features birds, reptiles and mammals like lemurs, jaguars and monkeys. The park also offers a crooked playhouse, an animal barn, slides and play space. Rides at the park include small roller coasters and a carousel. Food can be found at the Picnic Basket Restaurant. The park is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
