The Grand Canal arcs through and around Venice, separating it from its islands. Entering the island from the mainland, you’ll cross over the Grand Canal over one of its four bridges, which include the famous Rialto Bridge. The best way to take in the Grand Canal and get a glimpse of Venice is from the water, where you’ll pass by palaces, mansions and churches. Hire a water taxi or hop on a water bus and go from end to end and get your bearings.
