Since it opened in 1937, the 1.7-mile suspension Golden Gate Bridge has been attracting thousands of visitors each year. Visitors can walk across it at their own pace — but beware, it is often chilly due to the intense gusts of wind constantly surrounding the bridge — or they can check out the Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion which opened in May 2012. It provides visitors with orientation and information services, as well as houses exhibits and a gift shop.
Note: Weather can change from foggy to sunny and right back to foggy in the blink of an eye, so keep that in mind when planning your trip to this California staple.
