At the southernmost end of Anna Maria Island, this massive park spreads from gulf side, around the pass between Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, to the bay side. A number of large and small pavilions accommodate picnickers with tables and grills on the gulf side. A 1.5-mile paved trail close to the gulf is popular with runners, cyclists, Segway tours, and parents with baby strollers. It travels past all the park’s beachside amenities, including playgrounds, water fountains, concession stands, benches, changing cabanas, outdoor showers, and sand volleyball courts.
Bayside, you’ll find more pavilions, plus paddlecraft launching, and trails up a 26-foot overlook.
