The official Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area’s interpretive center triggers kids’ imaginations with its creative architecture and interactive exhibits that feature a 13-foot Columbian mammoth and Ice Age displays; a Lewis and Clark area focused on what the explorers had to pack; and a look at the volcanic upheavals and floods that carved out the Columbia River Gorge. The museum includes a scenic nature walk outdoors and seasonal raptor show with falcons, hawks, owls and eagles. An onsite café offers sandwiches, soups and salads, and paved trails lead to the river for a scenic stroll.
