This museum is dedicated to the natural surroundings of Asheville. Exhibits include the Hall of Minerals, the Grove Stone Room, History of Mining in North Carolina, Gemstone Collection, Weather and Fossils. Special kids’ programs feature hands-on exhibits, scavenger hunts and summer programs. Spaced Out Saturdays (which do not run in the summer months) provide space science activities and exhibits. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays (closed Mondays). Admission is just $6 for adults, $5 for children 7 to 17, and free to children under 6.
