Grab the fins and snorkel! Even though this is the nature island, that doesn’t mean there isn’t incredible beach and sea activity to experience with the entire family. First, the namesake. The beach derives its name from the tiny little bubbles that rise to the surface of the ocean right off the beach. This is from volcanic activity and provides a splendid site to see.
Second, it has an easy location. The beach is near Scotts Head Village, off Loubiere Road, which runs south along the western coast out of Roseau, where it is called Victoria Street. There is an onsite snack bar and sometimes, mobile food vendors for authentic-as-it-comes cuisine. There are no restrooms for use on the beach.
The diving and snorkeling activities offered on this black-sand beach are plentiful. The Champagne Reef is located just off shore with frogfish, seahorses, crabs, lobsters and an assortment of creatures that will delight. The marine park is a big draw for the beach, but don’t forget to explore the hiking trails surrounding the area.
