Look for the 18th century bell tower of this most famed cathedral in Nice’s old city and get the kids ready for a history and architecture lesson. Decorative frescoes and intricate plasterwork decorating nearly every interior surface inside are in stark contrast to the rather plain exterior. The Roman Catholic church dates to the 17th century and is surprisingly colorful inside.
If you’re visiting during the hot summer months, the cathedral’s perpetually cool interior is a welcome respite from the blazing sun. The nearby square is full of places where you can grab lunch or a drink afterward.
