Affectionately known as “El Morro,” Castillo San Felipe del Morro is one of the most common images associated with San Juan and even Puerto Rico as a whole. The 16th-century citadel is part of a World Heritage site and gives unparalleled insight into how the city has been protected and preserved over the centuries and through a number of wars.
Various programs and tours are offered every day. The vast lawn outside of the citadel is a popular spot for flying kites, which can be purchased from various kiosks in the immediate area.

El Morro is open daily from 9a.m. to 6 p.m., except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
