Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico is a large cave system that consists of more than 119 known caves located below the surface. Families can enjoy cave tours through the system for beautiful views of the limestone stalactites and stalagmites. Children ages 3 and under are not permitted on cave tours. The park is also known for its Bat Flight Programs, where families can see more than 400,000 free trailed bats take flight at sunset.
There is no lodging in the park, but the Hampton Inn & Suites Carlsbad New Mexico is a short drive away. For snacks during your visit, stop at the Carlsbad Caverns Trading Company. There is also a gift shop.
Admission is $10 per person, ages 16 and older and free for all guests ages 15 and under. Visit on select days throughout the year for free admission.
