The Cape May Lighthouse is another must-see attraction for families vacationing at the Jersey Shore. Travelers come from far and wide to check out the absolutely breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view from Cape May’s 157-foot high lighted landmark, located right on New Jersey’s southernmost tip. On a nice day, families will enjoy a view over 15 miles away, clear into Delaware!
Constructed in 1859 — using some of the very same bricks of its predecessor, built in 1847 — the lighthouse is a local favorite, and thought by many to be an integral piece of New Jersey state history. But be warned: It’s 199 steps to the top, so make sure you’re wearing the appropriate footwear!
While in the area, families can also spend some time exploring Cape May Point Natural Area, 153 acres of some of New Jersey’s best trails and picnic spots!
