Within minutes of downtown Miami and its neon lights is a national park that is quiet, peaceful and a showcase of marine life. Biscayne Bay’s protected waters and coral reefs make the park a wonderful place to snorkel, ride in glass-bottom boats, kayak, sail and camp with waterfront views. The majority of the park – 95 percent – is covered by water, and its the water that is meant to be enjoyed with a visit to Biscayne. Guided canoe and kayak trips are provided January through April. On the second Sunday of the month, January through May, the park hosts Family Fun Fest, which is a three-hour, hands-on event for kids and their parents.
