Family Activities:

Bethany Beach

Attraction

The white sands of Bethany Beach are situated on the Atlantic Ocean. A wood planked boardwalk or dunes separates visitors from the beach and several sets of stairs can be found ascending from the boardwalk. Lifeguards are on duty in the summer months. Dogs are not permitted on the beach from May 15 through Sept. 30. Kids will have a blast building sandcastles, catching waves and swimming in the ocean.

Monday Movies at the Beach
From June through September, family and kid friendly movies are shown free every Monday at dusk either on the sand or by the bandstand on Garfield Parkway, depending on the tide. After Labor Day, movie night moves to Friday. Some of the movies that have been shown include “The Sandlot,” “Minions,” “Inside Out,” and “National Treasure.” Check the town’s website or look for notices hanging by the beach for the exact movie that’s playing each week. Bring a chair and some popcorn and enjoy a movie in the sand. Movie nights are dependent on the weather.

Bonfires on the Beach
Families can enjoy a bonfire on the beach at dusk on Thursdays from June 11 through August 27. Marshmallows and sticks are provided on a first come, first served basis. All you need to bring are some campfire songs!

Hours
The beach is closed to the public from 1 to 5 a.m.

Cost
There is no cost or beach tags needed to enter the beach.

Dining
Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not permitted on the beach. Numerous options for boardwalk fare like hot dogs, ice cream, fries and fudge can be found the length of the beach at Bethany.
