Hiking and mountain biking the tree canopied trails, kayaking the James River, bird watching, picnicking, exploring abandoned ruins and buildings — the activities on Belle Isle and the James River Park system are seemingly endless for those who love nature. Parking gets crowded at Tredegar Street on weekends. A secondary access point is by the wooden bridge near 22nd Street. Kids need to be well supervised in this outdoor playground.
Belle Isle is also home to a very cool bicycle skills area for those wanting to learn to mountain bike or perfect their technique. Opens at sunrise and closes at sunset.
