The museum focuses on its permanent collection of 20th and 21st century American art, especially from the Western North Carolina area and the Black Mountain College. Tot Time for preschoolers is offered on the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. with seasonal Family Days featured two to three times per year with special activities, such as the Family Art pARTy and Super Heroes and Story Time. The Art PLAYce for Children is a 1,600-square-foot play area for children, providing a place for hands-on, interactive art programs during regular museum hours.
