Step back in time to 1819 and see how Huntsville residents lived day to day. Visitors can see skilled craftsmen performing black smithing, basket weaving and woodworking as well as tour a print shop, post office, surveyor’s office and law office. Free tours are offered every day at the village, which takes its name from the constitutional convention that took place on July 5, 1819, to organize Alabama as the country’s 22nd state. While all children are welcome, the village is an ideal attraction for third-graders and older. Generally, the village is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; however, November and December hours vary for Santa’s Village, a special holiday event. Also, the village is closed during January and February.
