Honoring the African-American soldiers who fought during the U.S. Civil War, this memorial statue is located at the corner of 10th Street and U Street. The 9-foot statue was completed in 1997 and became a part of the National Mall and Memorial Parks within the National Park Service and children can earn a Junior Ranger badge by inquiring about the statue through the National Mall and Memorial Parks office.
