Reviews

Disappointed

We booked our stay through AAA and Pleasant Holidays and upon arrival, were impressed with the beautiful lobby and grounds. Our name was even on the VIP list and they wished us a happy anniversary. That evening they delivered us a nice bottle of wine. We had a nice ocean view from our 4th floor room. The kitchen had updated appliances and granite countertops. The floors felt dirty and the carpet was totally nasty and dirty. The couch was worn and dated.

We were told we’d have 2 bedrooms with king beds, however, one was upstairs with a small staircase and no bathroom upstairs. Not good for either couple as we are both over 65. No separate air conditioning and it was extremely hot upstairs.

One bedroom was a master with ocean view and master bath, but that night, one of the occupants had severe cough and sneezing. In the other bedroom, it was very small with twin beds. The air conditioning blew directly on one bed, right at the head of the bed. The mattress were uncomfortable and moved over from the box springs when you got on the bed.

We had to call for additional coffee. You would think they’d leave enough when they know 4 adults were sharing the room. They also didn’t leave dish towels the first night and the ones they left the next night were cheep and worn. The coffee pot also had a burned out on light, so to be sure it was off you had to unplug.

Have the lights were out and maintenance couldn’t replace the main ceiling one in the bedroom and living area. The fan also didn’t work in the living area.

It was nice to have a washer/dryer in the room. The deck could’ve had 4 chairs, it only had 3.

I will say there was a grocery store across the street and we had dinner in the pool side restaurant and it was good.

We all left sick, one with a cold, one with bronchitis and the other 2 with severe allergies.

One nice thing was having beach chairs under a tree on the beach, if you were lucky to get one. The beach itself was not much of a swimming beach, too many rocks.

Great location, decent price, right amount of "resortness"

I booked this through Costco because it had the most liberal cancellation policy and removed the annoying resort fee from my rate.

We stayed here for 6 nights in June of 2019. The condo was easily spacious for 5 of us aged 13-76 to fit comfortably. We were in a higher unit in the building furthest from the beach but could see the ocean and enjoy the blowing palm trees in the courtyard. Our 2 bedroom 2 bath unit was clean and spacious and I'd give the furniture an 8 out of 10. The kitchen was well equipped and we only had to request a blender which they let us keep all week.

The staff was very nice. Parking was easy, we got a spot closest to our elevator 5 of the 6 nights we were there. We only dined poolside and had typical fair, fish tacos, burgers, etc. It was priced about right.

The pool side island show was small and simple but better than I expected. A very experienced troop gave us a great taste of the island dance and music culture without having to go to a giant luau. The two pool areas are really well maintained with a simple rectangular one basically beachfront and a fancier more interesting lagoon with waterfalls, tunnels and hot tub behind it. The grounds were meticulous and the pool hours were generous. The pools are way nicer than the photos show.

Tennis courts had lights and we played pickle ball whenever we wanted to, no waiting for a space. There is small shopping center across the street with everything you need: live music bar/restaurant, desserts, fast food, groceries, souvenir shops. There is also a food truck lot next to the hotel parking lot but their hours were so short we never were able to buy anything from there.

The property is in an excellent location. The beach was very eroded when we were there but there was more sand than I expected. You can walk north a bit for a better beach but you'll need to drive 10 minutes to get to the real treasures. See my other reviews about that.

The resort offers interesting lessons/seminars during the week ukulele lessons, lei stringing, etc. But they only offer these things once per week, so if you want to do one, check the schedule and don't miss it. They also offer a orientation breakfast on your first arrival day. DO go to this. It is NOT a sales pitch. The hostess we had was a Maui native and had tons of great insight and information even in this internet era. They serve complimentary breakfast items, coffee and give a way a lot of freebies like gym passes, sightseeing tours, etc. some worth up to $500. Almost everyone walks away with something!
