Had to stay overnight in San Luis Obispo for a family event and did the usual search for hotels/reviews, pics, etc. Wanted a safe, clean, comfortable hotel/motel and there were a lot of hotels near the family but none seemed great. Apple Inn was the most expensive but looked nice. I read one of the reviews about treatment of a person who was Asian and was sensitive to how I might be treated, being part Japanese. Parking was easy on arrival. The lobby is very welcoming. Comfortable benches by the windows and centrally. Many people were visiting with each other, families, couples. Warm. Checkin was very fast and friendly, offering home-baked cookies and wine (happy hour had just started). (The cookies were really good - definitely baked there) My room was on the first floor and the hallway to the room was a bit over decorated for the holidays but - hey - that's ok Many rooms were set back in twos (i.e. two rooms) with another door that could be closed to the hallway - making the rooms really quiet The ice and vending machines were also behind a door which was a nice touch - keeping traffic and noise contained. All doors are locked after 9pm making guests ring the bell at the front to get entry - very safe. Yes, a bit of a hassle but it keeps non-guest from walking hallways. The room was large, very clean, warm, comfortable. The fireplace was a nice touch, the bed was comfortable - not overly but nice. I like a really soft bed and this bed was softer than many hotels but not really soft. Temperature control in the room was good - not overly noisy. Complimentary bottles of water and apple cider - nice! Lots of channels on the TV. Refrig. Everything was in working condition. Bathroom, large - bright! Nothing worse than trying to put on makeup in a dim bathroom. Overall - I would definitely recommend Apple Hill Inn and if I have to stay overnight in SLO again, it would be here. Another family member stayed at the San Luis Inn and Suites on Santa Rosa. I picked her up for some of the activities and the differences was significant - I am very glad I stayed at Apple Hill!

I loved this hotel, the service was brilliant, staff were so friendly, food was lovely, bedrooms was so clean, comfortable and cute. I wish I could have stayed here longer. Beautiful place. Id highly recommend, we stopped here on our pacific coast highway trip. I fell completely in awe with this place, even got to bring home some of their gorgeous jams
