Located right in the downtown area of Sag Harbor on Main Street, the American Hotel is both a hotel and a restaurant. Enter through the restaurant and stop at the front desk, which doubles as the host stand for diners. There are just eight rooms, but all are spacious and can sleep up to four. Décor is traditional and historic, and rooms still use traditional keys to open. In-room amenities include sitting areas, whirlpool bathtubs, TV’s and free Wi-Fi. Guests receive a free continental breakfast daily, and can dine for lunch or dinner at the restaurant on the first floor (open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.). The beach and marina are walking distance from the hotel, as are shops and restaurants throughout the downtown area of Sag Harbor. Minimum-night stays may apply in the high season.
