This affordable, extended-stay hotel is ideal for a large family. It features suites with two queen beds and double sleeper sofas. The rooms are clean and spacious enough to give everyone enough elbow room. The full kitchen, with refrigerator, microwave, oven, and stove top, will come in handy for those nights when you don’t want to eat out. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, onsite laundry and DVD player.
The Select Inn is located in a quiet residential neighborhood 3 miles north of downtown Wasilla, so you’ll need a car to get around. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within minutes of your hotel, mostly along the busy Parks Highway. Popular attractions, including the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Museum and the Museum of Alaska Transportation, are nearby. Kids will love the Alaska Live Steamers, a 20-acre park where you can ride miniature trains through the trees. You’ll want to make the scenic drive to the Independence Mine State Historical Park, site of a large abandoned gold mine, in the mountains above Wasilla. With its spacious suites and quiet location, Alaska’s Select Inn is a fine choice for your vacation to Wasilla.

This is a property that's been around a while. It could probably use a refresh in terms of decor and furnishings, but that's factored into the price. My dad, brother, and I stayed here for one night in August 2019. We each had our own bed and paid less than $200 after taxes. Admittedly, I was on a sofa bed that I was glad to say goodbye to after just that one night, but the room worked pretty well for our situation and it was good to save a few dollars. Bathroom was clean; shower and toilet worked fine. The room also included a kitchenette which made breakfast easier. I was impressed with the woman who checked us in. She was friendly and seemed to have a lot on her plate as far as running the property. This is a not a fancy place to stay, but it does not seem to pretend otherwise. No complaints regarding climate control, noise level, and wifi.
