The Alaska Fireweed House offers several options that are perfect for a big family. The best is their 1100-square-foot guest house, which can sleep five or six comfortably. It’s a beautiful cedar home located at the end of a private wetlands path, and packed with amenities like a full kitchen, whirlpool bath, washer/dryer, expansive deck, and free Wi-Fi. A gourmet breakfast is stocked in your refrigerator each night, so you simply have to heat it up and enjoy.
The B&B is located on the edge of the Mendenhall Wetlands, across the Gastineau Channel from downtown Juneau. It feels far removed from the everything, but is actually a short 5-mile drive from the shops, restaurants and activities of the city. Mendenhall Glacier is another 10 miles away. For a big family looking for a unique place to stay away from the bustle of the city, the guest house at Alaska Fireweed House is a great option.

This was a Make a Wish trip for our family of 6 that we took 16 years ago after our young son survived Stage 4 cancer. We were the first Make a Wish family that they accomodated and did not know what to expect. We were absolutely overwhelmed with the accomodations, the hosts, and the area in general. We had an appointed time each morning that accomodated our schedule and The 5 star breakfast was served in courses. The food was so beautiful that we took pictures and it was featured in the Make a Wish magazine that year along with other pictures of the trip. Our son is 32 years old now and With an engineering degree and in management for a large company and completely cancer free. We had the vacation of a Lifetime while there that none of us will ever forget. They made sure that our every need was met, called us to look at bear wandering through, Could not have been happier. Had to select 2017 as our travel date but it was actually 2012. We stayed in the log house which is just that. Full house that used to be a primary residence. Full kitchen, beds, baths,
Open living room with fireplace, and a window wall with a beautiful view across the bay looking at the Mendanhall Glacier.

This was our first visit to Alaska and having The Fireweed B&B to come home to after a full day of exploring was such a comfort. We stayed in the guesthouse that is tucked away in the woods. Very warm and inviting decor. The king size beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms are very spacious. The living area is large and comfortable. The bathroom is also large and well done. The owners Jeff and Danith are very friendly. Thought it was a great location.
