We had the chance to visit Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort in October for a wedding. I can't rave enough about the food, the drinks and hospitality at all of the bars and the kind and friendly staff. I am usually not big on buffets but each buffet meal had excellent choices and fresh options. As well, the sushi on the beach and the Lima restaurant were favorites. We met Filiberto on our first day and he provided great service for the duration of our stay, always making sure we had what we needed and went above and beyond for us. The rooms were comfortable and clean and it was delightful to see the extra touches including the flowers and towel art each day as a nice extra touch. Each building has it's own pool and it was never too crowded. The yoga and poolside activities were plentiful and the snorkeling was amazing. I would highly recommend this resort and we look forward to returning again.

Fabulous resort, previously had booked with thomas cook and when fell through took a chance and booked with hotel direct thankyou jacquim ( who gave me a discount price, due to already having a booking ) and booked flights separate.
Everything excellent, from room, service and the best thing about this hotel is the beach its sits on. I noticed a lot of tours come further up the beach to the akumal dive centre to see the turtles and i felt privilege to be able to have this on our doorstep everyday.
Special mention to Maria, fernande and louie for the spin class every am.
One suggestion is to maybe get some more/upgrade spin bikes as most classes i attended were full at having only 6 bikes and being the only exercise class apart from pilates ( aqua fit is more fun i would say )
My only negative would be the same music everyday in the snackbar ???? and the acoustic easy listening music of the buffet restaurant. I get that its personal preference but acoustic versions of wannabe/wonderwalll and moves like jagger really could do with being binned ????
